9th Annual Marketfest
Saturday, September 22 ~ 9 am to 4 pm

Every fall, York Village Association (YVA) hosts Marketfest on the Village Green in York, Maine. This festival is hosted in conjunction with Museums of Old York and First Parish Church and enjoys thousands of visitors each year. Food vendors participate in selling their hearty fare and festival favorites, while artisans of all kinds have their art and wares available for sale. 180 York Street, (First Parish Church), York.

The 9th Annual Shaker Hill Apple Festival
Saturday & Sunday, September 22 to 23 ~ 10 am to 4 pm

Hosted by the York County Shelter Program, Friends of the Alfred Shaker Museum, the Brothers Apple Store and Giles Family Farm. Events include a juried arts and craft fair, silent auction, raffles, huge yard sale, book sale, pony rides, narrated wagon rides. Proceeds from the festival will benefit homeless and hungry people served by York County Shelter Programs. Healthy food and snacks for sale from the Lunch Wagon and baked goods from The Bakery at Notre Dame. The Shaker Museum will offer Shaker craft demonstrations and wagon rides through the former village. Portsmouth Lighthouse Open House
Sundays ~ 1 to 5 pm

Open houses at Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse in New Castle every Sunday through Columbus Day weekend 1 PM to 5 PM Tours are on a first come, first served basis. Children must be 42 inches tall to climb to the top & adults are not permitted to carry children up the stairs. Climb to the lantern room to enjoy view and to see the fourth-order Fresnel lens up close. Volunteers will tell visitors about the history of the light station. There are 44 stairs to the watch room and a 7-rung ladder to the lantern room. Flat shoes (not sandals or flip-flops) are required to climb the ladder into the lantern room. Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is located on Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor in New Castle, NH. Children must be 42 inches tall to climb to the top.
